How to Inflate Intex Air Mattress

Learn the three ways how to inflate an Intex air mattress. There are two factors that you need to take into account before getting what you need to inflate the air mattress. You should know what style and size air mattress you have

Some mattresses have an internal pump meaning there is nothing else needed to inflate the mattress. While others only have a one-way air valve requiring either a hand pump or an electric pump.

Inflating a traditional air mattress can be a struggle. The pump and the proper connector always seem to be missing. With the new Intex self inflating air mattress you can forget the hassle and inflate an air mattress in minutes with the flick of a switch.

1)  To begin the simple process unpack the mattress and lay it out where you want it to be. Make sure there is nothing under it or around it that could potentially get in the way or damage it.

2) You have already done the hard part! Now locate the valve/pump area on the mattress. The majority of the time it is located on one of the ends. Now locate the power cord, which is usually near one of the corners. This cord may not always be long enough to reach the nearest outlet. Moving the air mattress closer to an outlet is a simple solution. Or it may require an extinction cord which would be the only other thing you need.

3) Once it is plugged in it is time to inflate the mattress! Go to the pump and turn the power switch on. From there turn the dial clockwise to open the airflow and begin the filling. Wait until it has filled to your desired firmness and then turn the airflow off by turning the dial counterclockwise.

How To Inflate An Air Mattress With A Electric Pump

Inflating an air mattress with an electric pump is quite simple but it does require you to own your own electric pump. Some air mattresses may come with one but many don’t.

How to use an electric pump for an air mattress
  1. Begin by unpacking both the air mattress and the pump. Lay it out where you are wanting to put it for the night.
  2. Locate the valve on the mattress (usually on foot end) and a plug to power the electric pump.
  3. Make sure you have the proper connector on the pump to properly fit into the valve.
  4. From there put the pump into the valve and turn it on. While the air mattress fills watch and feel until it is filled up to the desired level. Now you can turn off, unplug and pack the pump away.
  5. Close up the air valve so no air can leak out and enjoy the air mattress!

How To Inflate An Air Mattress With A Hand Pump

This is most people’s least favorite way, but it may be the only way for some. Hand pumping takes time and energy, but is the cheapest.

How to use a hand pump for an air mattress
  1. Just like the other methods unpack the air mattress and lay it out where it will go.
  2. Grab the pump along with the proper connector to fit the specific air mattress. Attach the connector to the valve by inserting it and twisting it clockwise. Some mattresses may require the connector to be manually held into the valve.
  3. From there begin pumping until the mattress is filled to desired firmness.
  4. Once filled all the way up close the valve so no air can escape.

How to Deflate an Intex Air Mattress

Once you are done with the bed it is now time to deflate. The Intex makes it just as easy as before to deflate. There is no need to jump, sit, and lay across the air mattress to get it all out. The built-in pump does it all. The pump sucks all the air out to get it smaller and tighter than is possible to do with your hands.

  1. To deflate the Intex air mattress you will need to plug it back into an outlet.
  2. Then turn it on and select deflate instead of inflating. Turn the dial clockwise and the air will begin being pumped out of the mattress.
  3. Now roll it up and pack it away until next time!

Deflate a Traditional Air Mattress

  1. To deflate a regular air mattress all you need to do is find the valve and press it in. This will break the air seal and begin letting the air out.
  2. When the air starts slowing down and the bed is almost deflated put pressure on it to release the last little bit.
  3. Now roll it up while still releasing air making it as small as possible and pack it away until next time!
